"STRANGE BREW"
A mini-exhibition in MAKERS 16-31 March 2009

John Harlow in a reckless mood.

Just like anyone else potters occasionally long to "break free" from what is safe and "known" and do something with their creations which might seem reckless in terms of the normal control exercised over form, function and finish. Some of the pots here represent just such divergence; teapots which, although still functional, have been deformed as a protest against "perfection"; flop-moulded dishes which are used as a vehicle for irregular and abstract decoration; vases with coarse texture and shape.
These pots are not my "normal" production-ware and are very much one-offs, never to be repeated. Quite exciting when opening the kiln - maybe I'll free myself up more...............
